Although it's not often viewed as an enterprise-focused PC maker, Acer is trying to make a push for the corporate world with its new TravelMate Timeline 8481T notebook. The PC comes with Windows 7 Professional and boasts a 1.7GHz Intel Core i5 processor. With a 14-inch display and 8 hours of battery life, the notebook seems like a fine choice for IT managers looking for another enterprise-grade notebook option to offer to employees. But as with any other notebook, there are both good factors and bad factors with the 8481T. For every nice addition, like Acer's Pro Shield service, there is a head-scratcher, like the lack of an optical drive or the company's decision to bundle Netflix with the operating system. Along the way, the average IT manager will be able to find reasons to both buy and ditch plans to purchase the 8481T.
