Toshiba announced Wednesday that in just a few more weeks laptop buyers in the U.S. will be able to buy a glasses-free 3D laptop, when the Japanese computer makers Toshiba Qosmio F755 is launched on August 16th. The new F755 will set you back at least $1,699, starting, but the F755 does offer 3D in a way no other laptop offers at the moment, without cumbersome 3D glasses.

At the starting price of $1,699 the 15.6-inch Toshiba Qosmio F755 offers features that befit only a multimedia machine. The base version of this laptop comes supplied with a Intel Core i7-2630QM quad-core processor, NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M 1GB dedicated GPU, a Blu-ray writer and player with 3D Blu-ray playback, 6GB of DDR3 RAM, and a 750GB hard drive (5400RPM). The only downside is the 3D display is only HD 1366-by-768 resolution and the 2D screen option is full HD 1920-by-1080 resolution.
With those specifications you will most definetly be able to playback standard 2D HD video or 3D HD video from a Blu-ray disc source. Also with this laptop you can convert all 2D content to 3D content, this includes 2D Blu-ray’s too but PC games won’t work until Toshiba and Nvidia release a solution. Laptop Mag has gotten some hands-on time, check out their experience here.
Basically if you want 3D in a laptop the Toshiba Qosmio F775 should be on your radar. However if you’re not into the 3D content and you just want a multimedia notebook the F755 might not be for you, the 15.6-inch laptop weights in at a bulky 7.5 lbs. and it’s also quite expensive. A better solution would be someting like the 15.6-inch HP Pavilion dv6t Quad Edition, you can get the HP for $1,199.99 with all the main features and a 1080p screen.
