If you own an HP laptop we thought you should know that Hewlett Packard has put a battery recall out, the company has expanded its voluntary recall of laptop batteries. Apparently complaints have arisen claiming the batteries are rupturing or overheating, according to TechEye on Friday, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission they reports that since May 2010 and 2009 initial recall HP has had more reports of overheated and ruptured lithium-ion batteries.
There are apparently more than 162,600 battery packs involved in the recall and customers who send in their batteries will receive replacement for each verified, recalled battery pack at no cost. There have been seven injuries, 36 reports of property damage involving HP products and one smoke inhalation injury since 2010. The HP battery recall covers most HP laptops including Compaq made between May 2010 and May 2009.
