First Eye Controlled Notebook Delights Blackjack Card Counters

Posted in : Lenovo

(added last year!)

China’s Lenovo Company has developed the world’s first eye controlled laptop. The prototype of this model was shown at CeBIT 2011 in Hannover, the trade-show of the latest electronic technologies. The laptop, which is operated by the movements of the eye, was originally designed for quadriplegics. Clever blackjack players quickly found another use for it.

The device could be a perfect solution for advanced card counting systems which can improve player’s edge to a 49.5% chance of winning against the house. That is the highest edge against any other casino game involving players betting against the house.

Thanks to the technology of the Swedish Company Tobii, which monitors eye movements, the owners of this laptop can use their gaze to control cursor, zoom onto images, switch between open windows or adjust the brightness of the display.

The laptop sends infrared signals to the user’s eyes, and cameras hidden in the laptop case recognize their reflection in the retina. It’s possible to remove the essential components and add them to a book sized object which will lightly change color on its left side when the card count is in your favor.

This latest technology was greeted cheerfully by blackjack card games aficionados. Now those who struggle to count cards in their head, can simply send eye signals to the blackjack card counting device, placed at an adjacent table or even right next to them. Use of such a device is not recommended and can result in serious problems.

Blackjack players are confident that by the time the latest Lenovo laptop hits the stores, technological advances will allow such communication, with the odds finally evening out between the casino and the player. In the meantime players can banter about the latest blackjack tricks and prepare for tomorrow’s brighter and more profitable day at the blackjack table.
